What size system do I need? Wattage: Most gardeners use at least 25 watts per square foot of garden space. You may need less if your light is used to supplement natural sunlight, or if you are growing a plant that does not require as much light (i.e. lettuce). However, many gardeners prefer to double or even triple the recommended wattage to achieve faster growth rates. There is really no such thing as too much light, but using a big light in a small space will sometimes result in high temperatures that are difficult to control.
Most indoor gardeners use 25 watts per square foot. So, assuming there is no other source of light (i.e. a window), the recommended fixture by size is as follows:
Sun Blaze 22: 2 square feet of growing space.
Sun Blaze 24: 4 square feet of growing space.
Sun Blaze 44: 9 square feet of growing space.
Sun Blaze 48: 17-18 square feet of growing space.
Note: All fluorescent fixtures come with half blue spectrum lamps (promotes vegetative growth) and half red spectrum lamps (promotes budding/flowering) to create a full spectrum, unless otherwise specified in the comments box at checkout.
