Maristar High Output HQI T5 Combo Aquarium Lighting Fixture
The Maristar is an aquarium lighting fixture that runs high output T5 fluorescent and metal halide lamps simultaneously. The fluorescent lamps are situated on the outside of the reflector and the metal halide lamps are situated in the center of the reflector with the T5 fluorescent ballasts built into the fixture. Separate metal halide ballasts are required for the metal halide lamps and are not included with these fixtures but are included with our Maristar Complete Systems.
Because there are separate power sources for each set of bulbs the bulbs can be timed to produce a 'dawn to dusk' effect, that is, the fluorescents can be timed to come on first in the 'dawn' phase and the metal halides can be timed to come on later to simulate full daylight. Similarly, the metal halides can be timed to turn off first during 'dusk'. This produces a more natural, healthy lighting environment for your aquarium.
The various Maristar systems listed below are designed to accomodate different numbers and wattages of bulbs. The 2 foot Maristar holds 1 150 watt MH bulb or 1 250 watt MH bulb and 2 24 watt flourescents. The 3 and 4 foot Maristar holds 2 150 watt MH bulbs or 2 250 watt MH bulbs and 2 39 watt or 2 54 watt flourescents. The 6 foot Maristar holds 3 150 watt MH bulbs or 3 250 watt MH bulbs and 4 39 watt flourescents.
