T5 HO Fluorecent Lamps
What are the benefits of T5 Lighting?
One of the critical parameters of good coral growth or even survival, especially hard corals, is light. With the advent of T5's (which incidentally only describes the small diameter of the tube - 5/8" - does not indicate the lumen output), and the development of the correct phosphor blends it has been possible to produce a fluorecent tube, which can emit 10% more light than the equivalent wattage from a metal halide bulb. This is achieved with a 40% reduction in running cost and without the radiant heat problems that are associated with metal halide lighting. The actual tubes themselves are significantly less expensive than metal halide bulbs and have increased longevity-up to 15,000 hours.
The T5 tube is only half the story.
The narrow diameter of the standard linear T5 tube has allowed Sunlight Supply to manufacture a highly efficient reflector. The reflector is gull wing in shape, which allows the light from the back of the tube to be utilized and not reflected back through the tube where it would be lost. This is only possible due to the narrow diameter of the linear format T5 as the light is reflected in a clear path away from the tube.
Aquablue +
Suitable for salt water and fresh water.
This is the recommended D-D marine tube, which is a 60/40 white/blue blend. This tube was specifically developed for growing SPS corals down to 800cm.
Suitable for salt water, reef and fresh water fish only aquariums.
Features: T5 Diameter High Output Fluorecent Lamp, 60% actinic 40% white spectrum, color temperature approx. 11,000K crisp color as stand-alone lamp
Midday
Suitable for salt water and fresh water.
Midday is a 6000 Kelvin tube with a 5 point spectrum which recreates sunlight. It is suitable for salt water, fresh water, and reef planted or fish only aquariums.
Features: T5 Diameter High Output Lamp, Full spectrum high CRI Lamp, 6000K broad specturm encourages growth.
Information: This lamp is ideally suited to full spectrum use for growth of SPS and also works great when used 1:1 ratio with either the Actinic or Aquablue+ supplementary lamps.
Pure Actinic
Suitable for salt water
A complete pure actinic tube with all the power of the "T5" illumination in actinic form. Will fluoresce your corals to the maximum and blended in conjunction with the HQI or Midday 6000K will bring out the maximum color in your corals.
Features:
T5 Diameter High Output Fluorecent Lamp, Only true actinic T5 lamp made to date, Blue spectrum peaks at about 420 nm.
Information:
This lamp spikes at 420 nanometers for ultimate fluorescence of capable coral. It is the ONLY T5 HO true actinic available on the U.S. market.
Actinic +
Suitable for salt water.
A mixture of 40% Actinic and 60% Blue, it emits levels of actinic as well as a blue spectrum. It will make even the drabbest corals stand out by producing levels of fluorescence.
Features: T5 Diamter High Output lamp, Blue spectrum peaks at 450 nm, Supplementation lamp encourages bluing in SPS coral, minor fluorescing.
Recommendations:
Great when used with 10K or 6500K metal halide lamps to encourage bluing in SPS. 450nm peak is similar to Radium Blue metal halide lamps. Other preferred ratios include 1:1 with Midday Lamps, or 2:1:1 Midday/AquaBlue +/Actinic for best blend of bluing and fluorescence.
